Day 71: Keep on Trecking

Joel and I woke up at Walmart again, safe and warm. I was not willing to get out of bed so we snoozed till about 9. It is nice to have days like that! I love sleeping in (although I never thought I would consider 9 sleeping in!) Nevertheless it was very nice!

We started our day by heading to the terry Fox Memorial, which is set up to honor a Canadian hero! He was a 23 year old who ran across Canada to raise money for Cancer Research. He did his run with only one leg, having lost his other in his own battle with cancer. And it was here in Thunder Bay that we lost his battle and had to stop his run. So naturally we needed to go see this monument. And it was really pretty. And inspiring to read about.

After seeing the monument we decided to head to Kenora. This was the game plan for the day. So through the fog and rain we started to drive. It was really a lousy day out! But no matter we were warm and dry in our car!

The drive was nice, but the amount of cop cars we saw was amazing! They were out in force all day long! Two cars right in front of us got pulled over and we saw three or four others. So Joel made sure to drive a couple kms under the speed limit because it was really crazy.

We drove and we drove and we drove. Around 4 ish we made it to Kenora but decided to keep going. This way we would make it to Winnipeg by tonight. It was a long drive and the rocks an tree of Ontario slowly turned to rolling hills and plains. And the rain that started the day turned to snow. As we arrived in Winnipeg the snow started to really come down. Wet and heavy flakes. And man oh man it was cold. But we found a Walmart and buckled down for a cold night. After watching part of a movie and talking for a while we fell asleep both hoping we wouldn't wake up as Popsicles!

Joel and I are both at the point where we are ready to be home. The road trip was been amazing but it is going to be nice to sleep in a bed again and not have to move all the time, not have to budget as much, and even to work out! But in a couple days we will be in Cold Lake and then Calgary and then before we know it Vancouver! Part of me can't believe how fast this has all gone! Anyway tomorrow we do Winnipeg and head to Regina!
