Day 64: Capital of Canada

We woke up this morning safe and sound, even though the parking lot had been a little sketchy. We headed to Tim Hortons for a ice cap! Which was delicious, the sun was out and we were tanning inside Timmies (the wind was still too cold to sit outside). So we pulled out our computers and figured out where we would stay for the night. We found a nice place 15 min out of the city.

When we had figured it all out we headed to the Royal Mountain Police Musical Ride Training. Since we got there before it opened, we snuck (there was no one around so we just walked in) and watched the morning practice. It was really fun to watch the horses ride and it made me hope that I could ride again soon.

After watching the morning ride we headed to the Mountie museum where we could get a guided tour of the stables. It was really cool to see what goes on behind the scenes. We got to learn about what it takes to be a rider and a horse in this program! We also got to see the riders and talk to some of them, as well as meet some of the horses, such as Altivo and Shadow. Very nice horses, and people too!

After the horses we headed downtown to see some of the sights. Our first stop was the Australian High Commission where we got some information. Then we headed to the Parliament building. We really ( read me) wanted to see Question Period. Unfortunately we didn't make it on time, so we need to head back tomorrow. So instead we went to the Supreme Court. We walked around for a bit and gave ourself a self guided tour. Pretty cool!

Then we headed to lunch! After some re-energizing we headed back to the car and then to Rideau Hall. This is where the Governor General lives. Unfortunately the inside was not get open to tours, but we were more than welcome to walk the grounds. So we did, there was lots of cool stuff to see there, including a totem pole, an inukshuk, and lots of trees planted by dignitaries from all over the world.

A after walking around for a while we spent some time int he car, listening to Harry Potter and Joel even took a nap in the sun! Then we headed to our home for the night. There we were met by a friendly couch surfer who let us in, showered us, gave us drinks, and headed off for the night.

We spent the night watching movies, eating, and relaxing. It was very nice. Relaxing and just not doing anything. So nice! We also heard the good news that we both have jobs in the Rockies this summer! As wranglers! I can't wait!!!! Horses for the summer again!
