Siem Reap (Ankor Wat)

From Phnom Penh we headed North West to Siem Reap a town which is famous for its close location to Ankor Wat.  Ankor Wat is probably the most famous sight in Cambodia.  This is what everyone thinks of when they think Siem Reap.  And Ankor Wat permeates the whole city.  Everything around here is about Ankor Wat.

Our Nice Hotel (At Least It Looks Nice....)
We spent two full days here.  The first one was a nice day relaxing, enjoying the pool and hanging out.  I was still getting over the flu so this was a nice day to help with that and prepare for the full day we had planned at Ankor Wat.

Sunset From the Tower

Cute Kitten We Had Staying With Us!

After the first relaxing day we booked a tour for a sunrise tour to Ankor Wat and Ankor Tom.  We got up at 5 am and unfortunately our tour had not been booked.  So no go, we missed the sunrise.  Definitely something we were very disappointing in and the hotel did not handle it well!  Not a great start to our day, but nonetheless we pushed on and went to enjoy our day!

Amazing Architecture

Amazing Colors and Architecture!
So our first stop was Ankor Wat which was pretty amazing, although pretty busy.  Then it was off to some of the lesser known temples and ruins in the area!  Including one where Tomb Raider was filmed!

Pretty Cool Stuff!!!

Amazing Framing Opportunities!
We also saw lots of other amazing temples like Bayon.

It Was POURING!

We then got to look at some of the amazing gates that lead into the entire old city.  And then we tuk tuk-ed back in the rain!

After spending the long day here, we headed back to the hotel to warm up after getting wet in the rain!  We booked a bus to Sihanoukville for the next day and we are heading for some Sun and Relaxation before our time in Vietnam! (Ended Up Being about a 15 hour bus ride!)
